Savvion Business Expert

Immediately Define Metrics, Identify and Analyze Business Process Problems

Progress® Savvion Process Modeler provides dashboard visibility into process anomalies so you can instantly know where to target improvement efforts. It provides business-driven, web-based analytics so you don’t have to rely on IT to identify problems, analyze causes, manage metrics, and optimize processes in order to improve business agility.

An add-on to Savvion BPM, the Savvion BusinessExpert makes practical business improvement possible and enables people to immediately contribute to top-line growth and measurable business value. While “business improvement” and “process optimization” sound good on paper, the reality for most people is that to get there, they must often dig through piles of unsorted reports, rely on IT intensive data collection, deal with lack of authority to make changes, and spend their time in lots of meetings—only to have the business continue to bleed due to a lengthy change process. Two major components of Savvion Business Expert allow users to identify problems, analyze causes, manage metrics, and optimize business processes for increased innovation and agility:

  • Business Expert Portal
The Savvion Business Expert Portal integrates seamlessly with the existing Savvion BPM Portal. It includes a built-in metrics manager and analysis assistant that allow the users to create business metrics and interactive multidimensional reports. With the metrics manager business users will get metric observations that continually monitor process performance to detect any anomalies and notify these to the user. The analysis assistant allows business users to have ad-hoc access to all analytical information associated with real time process data.

  • Business Expert Engine
The Savvion Business Expert Engine processes events generated by the Savvion BPM Server for information relevant to the metrics and analyses created by the business user. It performs complex, real time computations to identify business specific information in the context of the business process. It then applies advanced process mining algorithms to detect patterns for the cause when key metrics are in jeopardy, and intelligently generates recommendations for corrective actions. It seamlessly maps the process and business data into OLAP cubes that are rendered in real time through the OLAP server – all without requiring any IT intervention to automatically create a data warehouse or OLAP cubes. The Savvion Business Expert Engine can scale independent of the other Savvion BPM engines, and it can support various deployment architectures allowing maximum flexibility without compromising the performance.

Bringing together these two powerful components empowers business people to immediately identify problems, analyze causes, manage metrics, and optimize processes for increased innovation and agility.

Savvion Business Expert empowers your business people to immediately identify problems, analyze causes, manage metrics, and optimize processes for increased innovation and agility. Key benefits of Savvion Business Expert include:

  • Quickly Identify Problems – Use Savvion Business Expert to find and track what is most important. Savvion Business Expert continually assesses process performance and sends observations of interest to business users. Having that business-critical information will allow you to create new business metrics from the web and monitor already-configured metrics for maximum service level agreement (SLA) compliance. The system will also alert you when key SLAs are in jeopardy of being missed.

  • Analyze Process Data – Savvion Business Expert offers powerful analytics on the most robust data model. Your business users will have ad-hoc access to deep analytical information associated with process data. Savvion Business Expert ensures that all data is available to business users at the point of analysis without requiring heavy IT configuration—thereby increasing agility and empowerment to stop the business from bleeding. Multidimensional OLAP tools are also available to users at run-time and the open data architecture is system-managed. That means no heavy IT lifting is needed to support even the most complicated analysis.

  • Perform Triage – Gain the ability to provide timely intervention without burdening IT. Savvion Business Expert recommends corrective steps to overcome SLA mishaps in the short-term until longer-term solutions can be discussed and approved. It enables business users to configure and deploy rules-based solutions themselves as a stop-gap. Not only does Savvion Business Expert track and execute business rules on behalf of the business user but IT will support it because solutions don’t impact the back office.

  • Ongoing Process OptimizationBusiness process improvement is a journey, not a destination. Process optimization is ongoing as your business grows and market conditions change. Savvion Business Expert gives business people the tools they need to identify and weigh the impact of all potential improvements, and facilitate rapid incremental process change. This agility and empowerment impacts top-line revenue and increases the innovation needed to survive today’s competitive landscape.

Business process management (BPM) promises continuous improvement, rapid change, and faster solution delivery. Savvion Business Expert delivers practical business improvement that works within the realities of your organization and culture.

  • Ability to Empower the Business
With Savvion Business Expert your business users can create all metrics that are important to them. With the help of Savvion BPM Portal the business can be successful without the help of IT or without going back to the design environment.

  • Dashboard Visibility into Process Anomalies
The Savvion Business Expert visual business control panel will let you instantly know where to target improvement efforts. It will analyze the process' contextual data around the metrics and present the most likely cause for the problems. Savvion Business Expert recommends short-term corrective steps to overcome SLA mishaps until long-term solutions can be implemented.

  • Business-driven, Web-based Analytics
With Savvion Business Expert business people don’t have to rely on IT to identify and analyze problems. A built-in analysis assistant gives business users ad-hoc access to all analytical information associated with real time process data. It allows OLAP style slicing and dicing by automatically organizing process and business data from the Savvion BPM. The interactive reports allow business users to dynamically apply complex calculations to the data and configure how it is rendered. With Savvion Business Expert all the real time data is available to a business user at the point of analysis without requiring any IT configuration.

  • Complete Control at Critical Junctures
You do not need to wait until business process problems result in lost revenue or poor customer experiences. With Savvion Business Expert you can identify and easily implement enhanced solutions while the rest of the organization catches up. Whenever the metrics are out of bounds, the system notifies you and delivers probable causes and recommended actions. This gives you the ability to turn the recommendations into rules that will automatically address the problems.
